I've done a round
of my home
turning off the tv
the lights
checking to make sure
the stove is off...

and every night
for 10 years
I've checked to make sure
that my apartment door
is unlocked

so the VOD
can get in
in the middle of the night
if she needs to

tonight
the bother
took the first load
of her gear
to her new place

and I realized
that she's lived
in that apartment
for 17 years
and while there's gonna be
a serious change for her
in moving to the new one,
there's also gonna be
some adjustments
for me

lock the door
